Candle Care Guide
To ensure you enjoy your candles safely and get the best burn every time, follow these simple candle care tips:
Before Lighting
- Trim the Wick: Always trim the wick to 1/4 inch (6 mm) before each use. This prevents excessive soot, smoking, and uneven burning.
- Place on a Stable Surface: Set the candle on a heat-resistant, flat surface away from flammable objects.
- Check the Surroundings: Keep candles away from drafts, vents, or air currents to avoid uneven burning or tunneling.
While Burning
- First Burn Matters: Allow the candle to burn until the entire surface has melted to the edges of the container. This prevents tunneling and ensures an even burn.
- Burn Time: Do not burn your candle for more than 3-4 hours at a time to prevent overheating or container damage.
- Keep an Eye On It: Never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep it out of reach of children and pets.
- Avoid Moving a Lit Candle: The container can become hot, and melted wax may spill.
After Extinguishing
- Use a Candle Snuffer: Extinguish the flame with a snuffer to avoid splashing wax or creating smoke.
- Let the Wax Cool: Allow the wax to solidify before moving or relighting the candle.
General Tips
- Storage: Store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve their fragrance and color.
- Reuse Containers: Once the candle is finished, clean out the container and repurpose it for storage or decor.
- Discontinue Use: Stop using the candle when only 1/2 inch (12 mm) of wax remains at the bottom to prevent heat damage to the container.
Enjoy the warm glow and fragrance of your candles safely!
